A Bile Duct Cancer Survivor Story: LaDonna Miller

How did you discover you had Bile Duct Cancer?

1.       God gave me appendicitis and they discovered it when doing the scan to confirm that. I had instant confirmation that everything was going to be ok from the holy spirit. But it wasn't an instant healing. I am now in year 3 of treatment.

How did your diagnosis affect your family?

2.      My family are all Christians, but each one handled it differently. I am an only child, and for me it was hardest telling my parents. But without exception every one of them presented a brave face in front of me.

What did you do to get through the difficult times during treatment?

3.      I created a private FB page, and it was by invitation only. I pulled in my strongest prayer warriors from all along my life. This was a way to make a single post and keep everyone I loved informed of treatments and results. But it also served as a place to ask for prayer when I was struggling and to also post praise on good days. My husband was my rock!

What does remission look like for you?

4.      Due to extensive testing by CTCA in Atlanta, they found a mutation that is treatable. I am currently on a drug trial that is slowly shrinking what little bit of cancer I have left (I started at Stage 4). Side effects are minimal at this point and cancer is not a part of my daily thought process anymore.

What advice would you offer to someone who has been diagnosed with your kind of cancer?

5.      You HAVE to let God take this journey with you! Immediately sever any toxic relationships and surround yourself with loving, like-minded people.
